As a Church, we believe that the River of God is still flowing. Ezekiel 47
shows this to be so. It shows a River flowing out of the Temple, flowing to the
East from under the threshold of the Door, from the right side of the house at
the south side of the Altar. The waters were measured four times; 1,000 cubits
each time and each time the water became deeper, till they were waters to swim
Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold waters
issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront
of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from
the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about
the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and,
behold, there ran out waters on the right side.
And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he
measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me though the waters; the waters
were to the ankles.
Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters
were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me
through; the waters were to the loins.
Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass
over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not
be passed over.
What does all this mean?
Firstly the waters are coming from under the Door of the Temple. John 10:7-10 says that Jesus is the Door and the Life Giver.
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the
door of the sheep.
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in
and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
As we read Ezekiel 47:9 we find that the river brings healing and life to wherever it goes.
And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth,
whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very
great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they
shall be healed: and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.
We see this same River in Revelation 22:1-2 proceeding out of the Throne and the Lamb.
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding
out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there
the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit
every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
See what Jesus says of the Holy Spirit in John 4:10-15 and John 7:37-39
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and
who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink: thou wouldest have asked of him,
and he would have given thee living water.
The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well
is deep: for whence then hast thou that living water?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank
thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.
The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not,
neither come hither to draw.
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying,
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall
flow rivers of living water.
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should
receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given: because that Jesus was not
The River was measured every 1,000 cubits. This represents 1,000 years, a
year for a cubit, prophetically. So 4,000 years for four thousand cubits.
When did they begin? We believe with Abraham offering Isaac, Abraham's only
begotten son, a wonderful type of the Lord Jesus Christ. From Isaac to Elijah
1,000 years, Elijah to Jesus 1,000 years, Jesus to the middle of the dark ages,
1,000 years, until now, waters to swim in and still flowing bringing
life, healing etc for those who the River touches. It is still getting deeper.
Who is the Life Giver? Jesus is. The River is coming from the right side of
the House. The right side of the Altar.
Who is sitting on the right side of the Altar? Who is sitting on the right
side of God and who had His side opened with a spear releasing blood (still
fresh) and water (still flowing) Revelation 22:1-2? Jesus.
For those who desire it, there are waters to swim in. When you swim in a river,
the river has control of you. But if your feet are on the bottom of the river,
you have control and not the river. Give yourself to the River.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor
standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
